6/28 meeting at Wing Park

So here's what we need for Sunday. We need your help.

1) We need a grill. Does anyone have a grill that they can bring for us to use that a) can be transported without falling apart (mine is rusted and won't tolerate being taken apart) and that also b) can be fit into a car to be brought over? This is crucial.

2) we need food and drinks. I think we should plan for 30-40 people- if we have food left over, esp. meat, we can likely freeze it and cook it up the next week for the meeting at our house July 5th. What are you all planning on bringing?

3) We need coolers and ice, likely as many as possible, not only for drinks, but to keep the food cold before we cook it up and to preserve it if we don't need it all.

4) we need a few people to get there early and help us get situated; a few of us should get there by 9 AM. Who's willing to come early?

5) we'll need chairs. Who can bring folding or stacking chairs? I have about 5 I can bring, and I think we will need at least 20.

I'm probably forgetting a few things, so make sure you read all the entries as the discussion unfolds. Let's get the discussion going!

  3. I found out we have an old grill that we will plan on bringing- I found it in the tool shed. We shall see how it works.
corn on the cob would be good. Can you bring some buns too? I'm revising my estimate down to 20-25 people.

  5. We have a cooler and a couple of folding chairs...two or three...We also have a large water jug cooler which we can bring full of lemonade if are still doing the lemonade stand, or just to drink if we are not.

I'll wait to see what other food suggestions pop up before we claim anything else.

It might be a good idea to bring some picnic blankets, especially since everyone has kids! I can probably find two or three around the house that will work!

I can bring a picnic blanket, 5 folding chairs, a cooler, potato salad, and all the stuff for the lemonade stand. Jess, don't worry about the lemonade, fill the cooler with water so that is an option.

For the lemonade stand, if anyone has smaller, quart sized plastic pitchers to bring, that would help, though I have two so we really probably only need 1 or 2 more. I will be bringing a card table and a plastic table cloth, and the plan is to have the kids help make and serve the lemonade to people.

I will bring tons of ice, tongs, the lemonade mix, stirring spoons, and cups.

So the lemonade stand is covered. :) Let me know if you have a couple plastic pitchers...

We are going to need a bag of charcoal. Some chopped up veggies or fruit might be nice.

  14. I had the thought that Eli and I could bring coffee, they sell it freshly brewed in a to go box at starbucks, to have during our meeting time, if people will drink it. We can also bring coffee cake to go with it/for desert later if that sounds good (we get a lot of free starbucks leftovers when he works there on the weekends!) If no one vetoes we'll just plan that!
